With election day banging down the door, I feel it's important to truly know the candidates before you. Take a look at this video.
As you can hear from the backmasking, a proven scientific method for finding out what people are really saying, Obama is really thanking Satan. Frankly, I can't condone that.
Okay, so I'm just posting it because the video is funny and mostly nonsensical (though it really does sound like thank you Satan). That said the time to vote has come.
I don't preach political view points here -I did satirize with the dinosaur party*, which I got way too busy to finish up with- but it should come as no surprise that I often vote third parties. Too many people make elections about voting for your party, like it's a football team. Others focus too much on the man, and not what they're actually standing for. I've heard too many people reasoning like this:
"I'm voting for Obama"
"Why?"
"Because Romney's a douche!"
This rhetoric swings both ways. Which is not to say that either man isn't a douche, rather, that's not why you should vote one way or the other.
I've also heard a lot of comments the effect of:
"I don't like either candidate. But I'm voting for ___ as I see him as the lesser of the two evils."
Our political system was never intended to run this way, with just two parties dominating and every other voice getting shut out. The only way to change that is to vote for another party. Which I do most of the time. Obviously I'm not speaking to everyone, as there are a lot of intelligent people who I interact with through this blog. And I'm not trying to push anyone one way or the other. I'm merely asking that when you cast your vote, let it be for the candidate who is most in line with what you want in your president, and if that's in neither of the two main parties, then don't be afraid to "throw away" your vote on a third party. Live your convictions, and don't let anyone bully you into theirs. Vote for what you think is right, not what is easy, and not for what you consider to be a lesser evil.
And now I shall return my soapbox to its closet, letting it gather cobwebs, till I need it again, and return this site to its regularly scheduled blogging.
*In regards to the dinosaur party, I'm not done with that. There's always 2016...
Video was funny!
ReplyDeleteLesser of two evils - sad how it seems to come down to that.
Thank you, Satan.
ReplyDeleteSo voting for Romney because his VP is hot is shallow?
ReplyDeleteI think someone has too much free time! Funny.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful I have the freedom to vote.
The body of Christ compels you!
ReplyDeleteI must confess that I was afraid to 'throw away' my vote and voted for one of the 'legit' candidates, only because I'd rather have the lesser of two evils. Normally I do 'throw away' my votes and write people in that I actually want as president in protest of this two party shit we have going on.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Bob Dole. I was surprised to see his name on the ballot.
