New Movie Releases Reviewed in 7 Words Each
Dylan Dog: Dead of Night - I never intended to like Brandon Routh...
Exporting Raymond (limited) - There's nothing about this I don't like.
Fast Five - Why does it have to look good?
Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil - Oh yeah... still intending to watch Hoodwinked.
Prom - Well, time to euthanize poor old cinema.
Sympathy for Delicious (limited) - This could be good... Or really suck...
I didn't write a column last weekend. I saw another Madea movie on the block and didn't have it in me to write another Tyler Perry diatribe. He's never going to stop.
First impression being what they are I didn't like Brandon Routh very much after I watched Superman. I didn't expect that impression would be shaken either. However he's slowly managed to change my opinion of him. Dylan Dog is a big role to fill. If you're unfamiliar with it, it's an excellent Italian horror comic series. As I understand it, there are some notable changes in this adaptation. But hey, I'm sure comic fans won't mind that. We all know how forgiving they are of properties being meddled with. Personally, I think it looks like a fun rental. Yes rental. I'm so hard to please these days...
Exporting Raymond sounds like a fantastically funny doc. It's all about Philip Rosenthal travelling to Russia to try and help them with creating an adaptation of Everybody Loves Raymond. Rather than bumble through a description, why not take a look at the trailer:
Oh yeah, that looks good.
What can I say about Fast Five... I've not been a fan of the series. I don't particularly hate the movies, I'm just not that big onPaul Walker car movies. I do like Vin Diesel though, and I've been hearing great things about this entry into the series. Course the people behind the series have also been talking about how it's never going to end. This is apparently a transitional movie as the series tries to get away from being all about the cars and focus more on crime stories with cool car chases. Whatever. People watch these movies for the explosions and silly stunts. And yeah... I will too.
Sympathy for Delicious tell the story of an aspiring DJ who after an accident becomes a paraplegic. After turning to a faith healer he finds that he has the gift of healing everyone except for himself. Instead of using this gift for the good of others though, he decides to use it to become famous. Trailer below:
I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. Mark Ruffalo is a good actor who tends to choose great roles, and I'm curious to see what he can do behind the film. The trailer leaves me a bit nervous though, I'm hoping that it's just badly cut and not reflective of the quality of the film. At any rate, the premise is enough of a draw for me to give it a chance.
And hey, if you needed good news, Atlas Shrugged Part 1 performed so horribly in its limited run, it looks like there won't be any more parts to it. Brings a smile to my face.
Have a great weekend everyone!

ReplyDeleteSympathy for Delicious sounds good to me and looks to be very dark. Dylan Dog looks good also.
ReplyDeleteFast Five won't be on my list. Well, maybe later it will...
Thanks Tim!
I went to the movies yesterday with a friend. (Water for Elephants). Sadly, I was reminded why I always wait for these things to come out in DVD before seeing them. Dang chair kickers!
