The first round was fantastically close there for awhile. But in the end popular vote went to the Mimosa Breeze! *whispering in my ear* How's that? You say that write in votes aren't allowed? Well, I'm sorry Mimosa Breeze lovers, but your write in campaign has been for nothing. I was really pulling for your grassroots movement.
This means that the winner of the first round was tallying tallying tallying, Sea Breeze! Mimosa put in some good hits with it's ability to be drunk in the morning free of guilt, not to mention its lack of grapefruit, but cranberry really won Sea Breeze the minority vote. So then, with some camps celebrating with fizzy fruity drinks and others drowning their sorrows in... fizzy fruity drinks, let us take a look at the next combatants.
Amaretto Sour
VS
Appletini
Amaretto Sour
Where it was 10 years ago: Sitting in a Texas Bar and Grill and wondering how things could go so wrong.
Where it sees itself in 10 years: Sitting in a Texas Bar and Grill and wondering how things managed to turn out so great.
Why it thinks you shouldn't vote for the Appletini: That stuff's made in New York City. NEW YORK CITY!?
Appletini
Where it sees itself in 10 years: Working with taipans back home down under.
Why it thinks you shouldn't vote for Amaretto Sour: Ego.
A wise man once said "choose, but choose wisely" but then he was made up for a movie. Still another man once said, "voting ends Monday night at 11:59 pm." That guy was me, but then, I may have been made up for a movie too. Only tim(e) will tell. No, I'm just as lost as you. Too many imaginary drinks...
On Tuesday we'll see what we'll see when we see it.
okay kinda unrelated here, but did you know some twitter person named "girlydrinks" retweeted my tweet about your last blog post? ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI'm sticking with my margarita on this one.
ReplyDeleteAppletini - because it is young, hip and what all the single ladies are drinking. And you know that Big Daddy is all about the single ladies.
ReplyDeleteI love maragarita even though its a ladies drink.
ReplyDeleteI am just wondering how they call those beverages as "ladydrinks"
ReplyDeleteSo no Blosssom here, are you in on this too.
ReplyDeleteAs for the drinks, I can say I have not tried either but I am leaning toward the appletini.
got to go with the Smirnoff again.... ummm appletini
ReplyDeleteI don't recognize either of those as suitable drinks for human consumption - they are in essence melted jello shots.
ReplyDeleteThe vodka works. I vote vodka.
Pelican, I'm not sure what you're asking exactly.
ReplyDeleteAwal, I have no idea what Blossom and Rep are doing. I'm waiting for the punchline myself.
Cottage, When was the last time you had almond Jello? I've never actually had an appletini myself, though I can tell you that Amaretto Sours are like liquid candy.
i'll probably have to vote appletini even though i think both drinks are vile (and i'm a girl).
ReplyDeletei vote for the cosmopolitan. thanks to sex & the city, it is the epitome of the girly drink.
I truly hate both of these drinks. I'm picking Appletini for no other reason than it contains vodka. After several of them, I'll forget that I hate sour things and lose the urge to yak....
ReplyDeleteI stand by my word in the last vote; vodka = awesome, Appletini for the win!
ReplyDeleteOh tim(e) do tell....what were you thinking? Upon reading your first line I went into 'crazy victory dance lady' mode. The let down I feel is profound.
ReplyDeleteWell, my loyalties lie in Texas Bars so, Amaretto by morning for me. (I will be addressing those crazy accusations that Rep made about me later on, I'm sorry for the obvious angst this has caused you. I do understand that Appletinis go well with Mexican food and help to dull the pain...maybe worth a try.)
Hey Cal...Who's Big Daddy?
ReplyDelete:)
Amaretto Sour it is. I love me some sour drinks occasionally.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how to vote in this round, because I've never had either. I know, boring...I usually stick to the tried and true. Can I vote for a Mimosa Breeze this time?
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!!!! Marlene!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm confused, generally. But what's the margarita got to do with this? These comments and posts seem intoxicated to me. I'll just have an appletini - cuz I really do like them- and I'll vote for it too. Good pick, Cal.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Robyn
Okay, let's see ...
ReplyDeletethat's 1 vote for tweety
2 for jello shots
1 for cosmopolitan
2 for Big Daddy
1 for Marlene
and a Mimosa Breeze thrown in as well.
I don't often admit that I'm confused, so I won't bother doing that now, but I am doing my best to resist voting for "Appletini Sour". Then there's the added issue of never having enjoyed even a thimble full of either drink, so I'll have to look at it like the battle that it is.
Amaretto is Italian, and they're better painters than fighters, so the battle is starting off poor. But then Amaretto gets all Sour, and can throw lemon juice in Appletini's eye, which stings like a Mimosa. However, Appletini is Australian, so it can ... uh ... ride horseback. Yeah, so bring in the cavalry!
Okay, I realize I haven't voted yet, but these jello shots are really making me want to tweet about Marlene, so I think I'd be better off coming back later.
Rep, You reasoned everything out just to leave me hanging. How anti-climatic.
ReplyDeleteI'm a midori sour man myself.... It's delicious and pretty!
ReplyDeleteSo my vote is for the amaretto sour....
I've got to agree with Cal and Robyn and say Appletini. Anything that gets the ladies puckering can't be a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteStop by, I have something for you!
Anything with a Tini has got to be the girliest thing around...just saying.
ReplyDeleteAlright, now that I'm done with the jello shots, and can think a little clearer, I'm going to go with Dr. John Dorian. (I'm assuming TS will get this reference, and know where to place my vote.)
ReplyDeletei had an appletini last night.
ReplyDeleteintense stuff.
Appletini. It's more fun to say.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but we always order it "easy on the tini." Does that help?
ReplyDeleteAmaretto!
ReplyDeleteBecause of the pace picante (or whichever one it was) reference with "NEW YORK CITY!?"
I have to toss my vote for sour.
ReplyDeleteTS - please don't make me choose something like this!!!!

Usually it's a result of the passion displayed in the article I looked at. And on this post "Battle of the Girly Drinks: Wave 2". I was excited enough to drop a thought :-P I do have a couple of questions for you if you usually do not mind. Could it be simply me or do some of these responses appear like written by brain dead folks? :-P And, if you are writing on other online social sites, I'd like to keep up with you.
