You know what I love? Those little commercial jingles that follow you from your childhood. Yeah there're the ones everyone knows, but there are also the regional ones. Those are the best. Right now I have this one swimming pool and accessories business buzzing through my head. "Swimming pools... Gary's got it! Hot Tubs... Gary's got it!" It's a tune that was so annoying it was funny. Course the best way to flush those out is with a little music.

Andrew Bird - Measuring Cups - I know I've already done an Andrew Bird song, but they keep playing those Fifth Third Bank commercials that have like 5 seconds of this song. Don't get me wrong it's a great song, but playing such a short bit of it is cruel to anyone who knows it.
Hooverphonic - Eden - Never really got into the group but I did like a few of their songs. This is my favorite of theirs. Video is pretty cool too. It was apparently in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, but I hated that movie and don't remember it in the film.
The Maccabees - Toothpaste Kisses - This song is so simple, yet filled with so much atmosphere that it engulfs the listener. And the video is something else. If you haven't already heard this one, it's a must listen.
"Pete Ellis Dodge, 1095 West El Camino Real, Sunnyvale!"
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget that address...I don't even know if Pete Ellis Dodge is still there!
I have various phone numbers still embedded in my brain because of those jingles.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny though when you're around others who know those jingles and you suddenly start singing and they join in.
My brother recently bought a copy of the game "Silicon Valley" off ebay. First time we played, it was ridiculous how many commercials we remembered. Although, maybe not. You HAD to watch the commercials, BITD...
