All the week's new releases in 7 words
Clash of the Titans - Awesomeness. Though I miss stop motion animation.
Don McKay - Holy hell, Elizabeth Shue is still alive!?
The Warlords - Remember when Jet Li was supposedly retiring?
Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? - Get it? 'Too' cause it's the sequel.
So I splurged this past week with my brother and split the cost of the Corner Gas complete series. As schedules conflict, we'll be doing Easter a few days early. It's now morphed into an Easter\Corner Gas marathon. Should be a pretty good party. Family... friends... food... Canadian TV, all the elements for a good time are there.
I finally watched Triangle after having it recommended to me by a load of people, as well as reading some decent reviews. I thought at first it was going to be a pretty lame SyFy horror channel type movie, but was pleasantly surprised. It's a solid movie. Pretty quickly you have an idea where everything is headed, but it doesn't matter cause it's more about how it gets there. It does have some problems, I thought the ending kinda of screws up, and there's a couple other places that don't add up. So no A, but certainly deserving of a B.
I also caught Where The Wild Things Are. The book pushed on me in grade school, and I've been interested in seeing the film for awhile. Course the book is like a two second read so there was plenty of room to build a story. I loved the movie. I thought that Max was a believable child, something often missed in the genre. The creatures looked incredible and Spike Jonze's direction completely drew me into their world. Very enjoyable all around.
Been seeing commercials for the new episode of Futurama that's starting up on Comedy Central. I got sick of the Simpsons a long time ago and haven't watched any new episodes since about season 10, but Futurama ended when it could have easily done another three or four good seasons. I have to confess I haven't really cared for the straight to video movies they've done in the past year, but I'm hoping the new show will be as strong as it used to.
I'm sure most of you have already seen this, but if you haven't you should check out this hilarious video. It's of Ben Folds doing Chatroulette live in concert. I've watched it a couple times now and it still cracks me up.
Well that's it for me this week. I did up some more eggs like I showed you how earlier this week, only I used th red onions so the eggs came out like Jupiter. I was going to upload some pictures but the camera's all the way over there, and I'm here so... you can see my dilemma.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Thanks for the reviews. You are making my list of movies I want to see even longer...
ReplyDeleteI do actually have a vague recollection that Jet Li was supposed to retire. Hmph. Another Hollywood liar... go figure! ;)
ReplyDelete7 word comment:
ReplyDeleteAll movies I haven't seen yet. Thanks.
Hummmm... Interesting selection!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about the Wild Things. It was refreshing to see a movie about the realistic pangs of childhood.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter egg dying, and chocolate egg eating (assuming that makes you happy).
Cheers,
Robyn
I think I was the only one that really liked the Triangle. That one got under some people's skin and give thenm a rash to hear how much they hated it.
ReplyDeleteEventually I will get around to catching up to all the movies I need to watch. Thanks for the reviews. I was iffy on the Where Wild Things Are movie but sounds awesome from your review.
ReplyDeleteTS I'm waiting for you to mention Greenberg. I thought we shared a love of indie movies? Come on mannn! :) I'm dying to see this movie. I have begged my husband to go with me tonight. We'll see :(

ReplyDeleteI'm planning on renting WTWTA tonight. I've heard mixed reviews, but the reviews from the more intelligent people that I know are all positive.
