First the standard bit about how this all works. I take the all the films said actor has been in and break them down into three categories, 'Good' 'Bad' and 'Ok.' I do not count TV appearances or Made for TV movies. Afterwards a quick analysis will show whether or not he's a good actor by the numbers. Invariably there is a 2-3 +/- point bias on a person to person basis.
Roll that beautiful chart footage:
I expected this one to be a lot closer than it was. When I actually started going over the movies I found that he made an unusual amount of good choices early on in his career. While he has had quite a few bad films, his good outnumber them without even adding in the ok movies. When all is said and done, since I count ok movies in the positive column, it works out to an outstandingly high 65% good over 35% bad. Considering the percentile the others have fallen into, just barely scraping into the good category or else falling squarely into the bad category, I officially rate him an "Excellent Actor." Very surprising indeed. I've always liked John Cusack, I just wouldn't have put him into that category.
While no one yet has landed into the 70% category, after today I think it might be possible.
Who to review next week? I'm always up for suggestions.
That's awesome, TS! Thanks for the shoutout! I finally received the check for my article. Obviously they won't be running it. So bummed. Would rather have the writing clip than the $50 :(

That sucks. I mean yeah it's cool you got the cash, but credits are always preferable.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see John Cusack makes the grade, I've always enjoyed him. It is interesting, as you said, that his results come out so high.
ReplyDeleteThanks for running his numbers, surprising results.

In light of parenthood coming out as a TV show how about rick moranis or steve martin?
ReplyDeleteI feel like moranis is bound to do well ... but that's only because I picture him in ghostbusters and little shop of horrors.
Actually Rick Moranis would really make for an excellent entry. sounds good for next week.
